Every ladies dream while dating is to be engaged someday and probably get married. Surprisingly though not everyone dates with a view to getting married. People date for the fun of it without any intention of marriage, some even get pregnant alongside, they either have an abortion, become baby mamas or single parents without getting married. So you see, it all boils down to "who am i dating?". Dating has a lot to do with building friendships while in the long run building a solid relationship whereas a good marriage is the union of two good friends. So it all starts with building friendships. I am not going to dwell so much on dating, lets talk about engagement.

It is a common trend to see most young ladies wear an engagement ring, when asked they say I am engaged, they even go as far as posting pictures and videos of the engagement party. I know of a guy in my area who gives an engagement ring to any girl he dates, the ladies keep wearing the rings for as long as possible, we even had to give the guy a nickname "lord of the rings". To be hilarious, I often see pictures and videos of ladies who wear make up, prepare to go outing, meanwhile, the guy has already told her that its going to be their engagement night where he will propose to her, they even go with a photographer but when the guy proposes you will see the girl looking all surprised like she did not see it coming, I often ask myself why the pretense?
Well, its all for the cameras! lol. surprise engagement.jpg
In my case, I was engaged to at night, the next morning, I went to fix my nails to make the ring look beautiful on my fingers after that I took a picture of the ring and sent it to my sisters. But the question is does all engagement lead to marriage. The answer is NO. An engagement does not guarantee marriage, it means the relationship has the possibility of leading to marriage, that is how I see it though, your opinion may differ.

People get engaged for over a period of years and later find out they are incompatible and that is the end of the relationship, whereas some engagement like mine did not take more than three (3) months and wedding preparations were already on the way.

Conclusively, the people we date matters, build friendships while dating, date for the right reasons. For the guys, do not become "lord of the rings". Ladies, do not wear an engagement ring for too long, apply wisdom and discretion to know when an engagement is getting too long since engagement does not guarantee marriage.
