A Day in the Life of a Wedding Photographer: Pinecrest Lake, California

in engagement •  7 years ago  (edited)

I started today by ruining my 3 day diet streak and hitting up my favorite coffee shop on the way up the mountain. We've had 3 glorious days of constant rain, and so I was headed to a favorite local lake to scope it out for my engagement session this afternoon. This time last year this lake was completely frozen over, we were even able to walk on it, but not far...well as far as we thought we could probably stand if we fell through.

Today it's mostly mud. They let the water out in the winter, so I was delighted to see it was more than just one big mud puddle. The reflections in the water were beautiful, and it was a warm 50 degrees F, not bad shooting weather for January!

And just in case you're interested, here's the exact same location last January! These two are walking on the frozen lake.
