Engine একটি ইংরেজি শব্দ। এর বাংলা হল সয়ক্রিয় যান। যা নিজের শক্তি নিজে উৎপন্ন করে নিজে চলে এবং অন্যকে চলতে সাহায্য করে।আমরা যে সকল ইন্জিন চিনি সে গুলো হল, মটর সাইকেল এর ইন্জিন, গাড়ির ইন্জিন, ট্রেনের ইন্জিন, নৈাকা বা জাহাজের ইন্জিন, বিমানের ইন্জিন ইত্যাদি।এই সবগুলোই অন্তর দহন ইন্জিন।
ইন্জিনের প্রকারভেদ:
ইন্জিন প্রধানত দুই প্রকার। যথা:
১/ বহিঃদহন ইন্জিন।
২/ অন্তরদহন ইন্জিন।
১/ বহিঃদহন ইন্জিন: যে ইন্জিনের দহন কার্য ইন্জিনের বাইরে করা হয় তাকে বহিঃদহন ইন্জিন বলে। যেমন: বয়লার, কয়লা দ্বারা চালিত ট্রেন, বাষ্প ইন্জিন ইত্যাদি।
2/ অন্তরদহন ইন্জিন: যে ইন্জিনের দহন কার্য ইন্জিনের ভেতরে করা হয় তাকে অন্তরদহন ইন্জিন বলে।যেমন: গাড়ির ইন্জিন, মটর সাইকেল এর ইন্জিন ইত্যাদি।
এই ইন্জিন আমরা প্রতিদিনই দেখে থাকি।
