অন্তরদহন ইন্জিন:

অন্তরদহন ইন্জিন দুই প্রকার। যথা:

১/ পেট্রোল বা স্পার্ক ইগনিশন ইন্জিন।
২/ ডিজেল বা কমপ্রেশন ইন্জিন।

১/ পেট্রোল ইন্জিন: যে ইন্জিনে বাতাস ও জ্বালানি মিশ্রণ সিলিন্ডারে প্রবেশ করিয়ে স্পার্ক প্লাগের সাহায্যে দহন ঘটিয়ে শক্তি উৎপন্ন করা হয়, তাকে পেট্রোল ইন্জিন বলে। যেমন, মটর সাইকেলের ইন্জিন, বিমানের ইন্জিন ইত্যাদি।

২/ ডিজেল ইন্জিন: যে ইন্জিনে সিলিন্ডারে শুধু বাতাস প্রবেশ করিয়ে অধিক তাপ ও চাপ তৈরী করে উচ্চ চাপে ডিজেল স্প্রে করে দহন ঘটিয়ে শক্তি উৎপন্ন করা হয়, তাকে ডিজেল ইন্জিন বলে। যেমন: বাস, ট্রাক,ট্রেনের ইন্জিন।
