Greetings, how are you steemit friends in Aceh and wherever you are? Hopefully keep the spirit and healthy always. Today I will discuss the impact of slum settlements along the riverbanks and the impacts of climate change that result in floods and solutions, hopefully useful.

Several cities in developing countries are in trouble with slum settlements and are increasing every year due to increasing population and other problems and inadequate preparation for climate change. [source]

Slums have long accompanied most cities in the world, such as in Dhaka (Bangladesh), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Jakarta (Indonesia) and other cities. [source]

In accordance with what I learned at Malikussaleh University, Aceh. Slums occur due to the density of the population in a city and the majority of low-income, some factors that trigger the birth of slum areas is the number of poverty and high unemployment. [source]

The problems that often arise due to the slum of a settlement, among others, become a source of disease and complicated social problems such as crime and others as. [source]

While climate change is a change in weather distribution in a time in general, such as increased extreme weather and so forth. [source]

SLUM AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Jakarta is an example of how complicated it is to solve a problem of slum areas that continue to increase throughout a year due to the increasing population of low-income residents, until finally unable to meet the basic needs especially buying land.

In fact, Jakarta in a last five years has been hit by floods caused by slum settlements along the main riverbanks as well as garbage problems that continue to accumulate. [source]

Massive pollution of water and soil has made ecosystems in the densely populated towns slowly damaged, who should be responsible for our children and grandchildren?

Slum settlements in Jakarta are usually located on the edge of the main river, a construction of the house is arbitrarily due to insufficient cost to buy good land, consequently the main rivers cannot work optimally and also destruction of river functions on a large scale , even the worst threats occur when climate change causes high water levels and houses are flooded.

The slum scale of an area you can know a density, area, land ownership, a quality of facilities and infrastructure. [source]

Some people argue that the government should be responsible for the presence of slum areas, but there are also those who argue that the main mistake of immigrant settlers especially those who do not have sufficient economic resources.

An impacts of climate change that greatly affect life are hydrological disasters [source] as well as rising sea levels due to global warming and you will be faced with the problem of flooding.

SIMPLE SOLUTIONS

Some governments around the world are forced to evict slums [source] and relocate residents elsewhere that is more feasible. A problem is that evictions of slum settlements are frequent in some dense cities to provide comfort and avoid overflowing river water.

Often when evictions by the government get resistance from the resident and result in some parties harmed.

An innovation by Dutch citizens is more humane, Willem Blokker a floating resident said that the floating house that he has been able to withstand climate change. [source]

This floating house can adjust to the surface of the river water because there is a float and use the foundation to remain in position and can minimize the force of jiggle by the wave.

Using of floating houses is considered a better solution, not disturbing/destroying river functions as well as more comfortable than floating houses that do not use a foundation, such as ships.

By utilizing the floating house then you have overcome the difficult problem especially high cost of land ownership and you can more appreciate the nature.

CONCLUSION

Slum settlements along the banks of mains rivers and climate change can cause disasters, the most common disasters are floods and other disasters.

We recommend building a buoyant house that is more environmentally friendly but still consider the regulations/policies of local government.

Floating houses are considered a temporary solution to overcome slums and the impacts of climate change and you should consider the feasibility of a floating house as a permanent home.

certainly very fun to have a house right above the water surface @ kharrazi, your landing is very useful and I am very amazed at your posts.

Thanks for your stopping :)

I think these floating homes could be real solutions to the issue. Hopefully this becomes a reality for the majority of people like the people of Jakarta.

Thank you for this informative post.

The explanation is so interesting my brother @kharrazi,
I'm still confused how to revenue clean water for building occupants
