Xenophobia

Hello friends of Steemit today I want to share with you a problem that has been increasing and sharpening against my Venezuelan brothers abroad and has existed for many years in various parts of the world, and it is xenophobia or / and discrimination against the emigrant . Venezuelans who leave looking for a better future for their families and children who can not get in their country of origin leaving everything behind and starting again, leaving Venezuela for different reasons insecurity, food, health, employment, progress, ultimately a future. Taking the decision that it is not easy, but necessary to leave your country with the greatest feeling of leaving your family and friends.

I believe that if you ask any Venezuelan abroad, if he would return to his country having at least some minimum conditions of quality of life, they would leave everything they had in their current country and they would return to Venezuela.

Xenophobia: It is fear, rejection or hatred of foreigners. With manifestations ranging from rejection, contempt and threats, to assaults and murders. One of the most common forms of xenophobia is that which is exercised on the basis of race, for example, racism.

Any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on reasons of race, color, lineage or national or ethnic origin that has the purpose or result of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment or exercise, under conditions of equality, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural or any other sphere of public life. Article 1 of CERD

According to some currents of psychology it can be deduced that xenophobia is an ambivalent continuum in which the most extreme cases experience a bias in their perception that would overestimate their culture, their traditions and their ethnic group over others, experiencing greater empathy, appreciation and love for the familiar and familiar, which would imply, deployment of defensive strategies.

The discourse xenophobe focuses on the current immigration, proclaims the superiority of its own culture and makes its rejection xenophobe the lack of response to their claims that immigrants assimilate that culture, renouncing their own that they consider inferior. When the cultural affirmation can be considered as a right that must be harmonized with the legislation and culture of the recipient.

The right of immigrants to maintain their cultural differences can only be possible when host societies renounce the ideology of pure and simple assimilation of foreign communities, to consent to the cohabitation of different communities. Only in this way will immigration be seen as a danger to cultural identity to be conceived as a possibility of enriching that culture. Lelio Marmota, Human Rights and immigration policies.

On September 16, 2008, at the Brussels summit, the European Community approved the Law against Xenophobia and Racism that contemplates sentencing up to three years in prison the xenophobic and racist behaviors. Member States must adapt their legislation within two years to consider as a crime:

  • Public incitement to violence or hatred directed against a group of persons or a member of such group, defined in relation to race, color, religion, ancestry or national or ethnic origin;

  • The commission of one of the acts referred to in the previous section through the dissemination or distribution of writings, images or other materials;

  • Public apology, denial or flagrant trivialization of crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes directed against a group of people defined in relation to race, color, religion, ancestry or national origin or ethnic

We can not fail to emphasize that in a counterbalance of discriminatory, racist and xenophobic attitudes, there are also experiences of openness, rapprochement, involvement that generates networks of solidarity and spaces for exchange, learning that build interculturality.

One of the great challenges to provide fair solutions to the displacements of today's population is to put an end to xenophobia and discrimination against migrants and refugees, Jan Eliasson, UN Deputy Secretary-General

Jan Eliasson participated in the high-level event of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on the challenges posed by migration to sustainable urbanization plans.

A real problem is the growing xenophobia, intolerance, polarization and discrimination, he warned.

"Since migrants and refugees will continue to arrive, and there are no signs that these flows are going to diminish soon, we must resolve how to promote and implement the principle that all human beings have the same value," Eliasson said.

The deputy secretary general concluded with a call to develop policies that recognize and take advantage of the value that migrants bring to societies, including economic and demographic growth, development and remittances, which boost the economy in both countries of origin as on a global level.

America’s sign of the time!! Not just with the nice people of Venezuela, or at the USA borders, but sadly at the in-house version of the EEOC at the Social Security Administration or OCREO is very biased too.

Asian-American federal employees working for the Social Security Administration are being discriminated at an alarming rate.

SSA is a declining federal agency which has always touting social assistance and societal equality but the unwelcoming disrespect and the hostility is worsening. The ethnic rank-and-file who do not belong to one of the BIG THREE group are feeling the heated aggression big time including from their own AFGE union reps against lower-level Asian-American field employees. It is so rampant that it forcibly pitted some Asian-American supervisors to be equally or exceeded the viciousness toward these unrepresented employees.

Based on this discriminatory culture, it is the only way for many SSA supervisors to prove their management prowess and self-worth recognition by harassing other Asian-American employees. The agency would also look the other way when it comes to lack promotion or retention of those Asian-Americans who are promoted. The Boston and Dallas/Fort Worth Area field offices are the worst for those unfortunate Asian employees amid this whole unchecked discriminatory culture within a much declining USA federal government agency in 2019!!!!!!!!
