The nose of a man is one of its most prominent features, and so when a portrait is made of it, it is possible to enlarge it so that the eyes, mouth, and everything else are reduced to something insignificant.

The portrait, stops being it and becomes a caricature.

Similarly, it is possible to proclaim certain important doctrines of the gospel with such intensity that the rest of them are relegated to the shadow, and preaching is no longer a proclamation of the gospel in its natural beauty but a caricature of truth. And I must confess that there are some people who seem to be very much attached to this caricature. - C.H. Spurgeon
