Good morning.Do you spend your time listening to bad news? Do you live with people who only talk about negative things all the time? Do you spend more time reading negative news instead of looking for more positive information? Is it hard for you to find the good? inside the bad thing that happens to you?

It is a fact that too much bad news can affect our mood and influence how we perceive reality, but the worrying thing is to discover that human beings are "designed" to respond more avidly to bad news. The explanation that scientists give is simple: it is a question of survival.

But this also means that our perceptions are often more influenced by bad news than good news: when we form an impression of someone, we generally evaluate it by giving more weight to its negative aspects. In the same way, when we look for explanations for the things that happen to us, we devote more energy and attention to the bad than to the good.

Of all this, the most revealing thing that we should take into account is that when we are in a pessimistic state of mind, our inclination towards the negative intensifies. Something like that the negative attracts more negative.

It is so true that the negative is more attractive, which is why bad news "sells" more than 53.4% of the content in the media. Where the bad news revolves around issues of violence, suffering and conflict. In most mass and print media, without a doubt, the rating increases the more terrible and disastrous a note is.

But although it is not possible to deny reality, it would also be worth seeking much more optimistic information that compensates in some way for the excess of negativity that surrounds us.

What can you do to keep your spirits from failing in the face of too much bad news? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Listen to music that encourages you.

  2. Read motivational books or character biographies whose example stories inspire you.

  3. Admire art in its many forms (visit a museum, contemplate nature, go to a theater performance).

  4. Surround yourself with optimistic people (and avoid those who love to be talking all the time about the red note or the bad things that happen to their acquaintances ...).

Feeding on good news will help you compensate and not focus too much attention only on the negative aspects. In this way, your vision of the world will be more balanced as well as optimistic, and you will generate more positive emotions that can at the same time infect other people, something they will thank you for.

Well it is my opinion, I accept suggestion, criticism, advice and others.
