New Dinghy for Selene ;) [+vid with eng subs]

In or better "at" the Baltic Sea you usually don't need a dinghy. Actually, I only know one port in which you can't get around it, but you aren't "normally" allowed go there anyway.

If you look towards the Mediterranean, the whole thing looks different. At the Baltic Sea you pay a big surcharge for a dinghy + engine when chartering, however at the Mediterranean this is usually included. This may be due to the over-priced marinas around Italy and Croatia on the one hand, but also because of the many marinas in which there isn't a thing anyways (Greece).

Since I sailed Greece as a charter guest for many years I can tell from my experience: Assume that there is nothing at all in the harbour - neither electricity nor water, with a good portion of luck a tavern (if it's open). But you can be very sure that every adolescent Greek has a moped with a loud exhaust and will use it to thunder up and down the promenade for hours. The whole thing is then usually accompanied some kind of compressed air booth (disco), with it's "itzn-itzn-itzn-itzn" noise playing the après-ski charts of the last season up and down. . .
Well - it's really not that bad. The good thing is: You have to get in contact with the people, to organize some ice for the fridge or to get the empty water tanks filled up a little.

Nevertheless - if you have everything on board, then the desire for a quiet bathing/anchor bay rises very much. And if you do need something, you got the dinghy.

As already mentioned in my last article, I would like to go to the Caribbean and since you have to "pass" some islands on the way there, the idea of anchoring comes to mind. Surely there will be the one or other marina, but I intend to drop the anchor for the most part.

So I immersed myself into the world of dinghy. The offer of inflatable boats is gigantic. From a reasonable 50€ to the Mercedes class with more than 2000€, whereby the construction of the boat and the material determine the price significantly. Since I would like to deploy an anchor with the dinghy, a firm floor is a must-have. With this criteria there exist several variants, so the decision was made to go for an aluminium flooring. Unfortunately, these dinghy play in the 800+€ segment at the well-known online shops.

Since this wasn't it worth to me, I found practically identical models made copied by the nice man of China. Due to the many detailed pictures you can even estimate which model was copied from AWN & Co. The boats are sold under the name "Ancheer" and there are 3 models.

Since this will be a two person trip, I decided to go for the smallest one because of space reasons. This was available for only 430€ with article location: Hamburg. When I got the tracking number, I had to laugh a bit. The boat was taken by truck from Prague, then practically drove past my front door to Hamburg and then back to me by forwarding agency.

I recorded the first assembly ;) - to get the flooring mounted is really tricky, respectively I still lack the right technique.

In order not to make the video too boring, I also took the first test drive with my 1984 Evinrude, about which you can find some articles already in this blog.

The pictures were taken at Arnager / Denmark, where we recently took a week off and sailed around Bornholm.

I will also write a contribution about this. Stay tuned ;)
