I RESEARCH DAY: A CHALLENGE TO EDUCATE IN CONTEMPORARY VENEZUELA

The training of people basically involves learning to be human and learning to live together which includes relating to others in a context of values, norms and conventions.
Education has the mission to contribute that students develop their necessary skills to function as citizens in society. These capacities have to do with the acquisition of knowledge within a series of disciplines, but they do not exhaust themselves in them. Education must also address crucial issues that are currently a priority because of their obvious repercussions on society: violence, inequalities and discrimination, solidarity between societies, environmental degradation. The educational efforts should be aimed at students understand these problems and develop a critical judgment about them, developing activities and responsible behaviors.
Therefore, it is necessary to promote a fundamentally valued preparation as a way to live in a world of solidarity and peace. That is characterized by humanistic character.
The culture of peace is a set of values ​​and activities that seek to ensure compliance with human rights and the use of dialogue as a tool for conflict resolution; On the other hand, the teaching role is the set of activities carried out by the teacher with the student group under his charge to achieve knowledge and promote the development of skills and abilities that can train citizens and professionals suitable to function in the village global knowledge in favor of society.
The purpose of this research is to provide updated theoretical information on the culture of peace and a study of trends worldwide, emphasizing the current crisis that Venezuelan education is going through. In addition to providing teachers, families and entities different to the educational system with a series of guidelines to carry out education in culture of peace from the first stage of Basic Education, from a perspective that serves as the basis for a successful education based on values .
