Today I want to talk about an issue that affects us all and yet many of us do not know what it is about.
Today I came with my wife and daughter walking to our residence and we noticed that there was a lot of noise due to loud music because people are celebrating some event, however this noise often becomes annoying to people who live nearby since they can not be at peace in their house or sleep due to the high volume emitted by the sound players.
This is called Sonic or Acoustic Pollution, which is the excess of sound that alters the normal conditions of the environment in a certain area.
Because people have little knowledge about this problem, they do not know how to attack the situation and continue to be victims of abuse by other people.
In the case of my country, there is a governing body that regulates activities that could endanger the physical and intellectual integrity of the citizenship product of this type of pollution, this entity is the Ministry of Eco Socialism and Water.
The Official Gazette of the Republic of Venezuela No. 4,418, establishes Decree No. 2217:
Rules on the control of pollution generated by noise.
This Decree establishes the Norms on the control of pollution generated by noise.
For example, Article 4 establishes the following:
"The cases of noise generated by commercial, domestic and social activities, such as: parties, use of sound equipment, electrical appliances, air conditioning equipment, hydro-pneumatics, etc., that cause discomfort in the neighborhood, are considered as disruption of order public and will be submitted to the knowledge of the civil chiefs and municipal authorities, according to their competence."
It also indicates the tolerable noise levels Diurnal (6:30 am 9:30 pm) and Nocturnal (9:31 pm 6:29 am), classified into five zones.
These zones establish the maximum decibels allowed according to the time.
Said norm also establishes the noise levels emitted by land transport vehicles, such as Motorcycles, Automobiles, Buses, trucks and cargo vehicles, Aircraft, construction or major building repairs.
Failure to comply with this rule will bring fines and even imprisonment to their offenders.
It is proven that Sonic Pollution affects the quality of life of people, their interpersonal relationships are affected and make them perform less in their jobs, that is why government bodies have established these rules for the protection of citizenship.
It is up to us to enforce our right for offenders to begin abiding by the law.
