Within the plants and medicinal foods, the lemon is one of the stars. This fruit can be obtained with great ease in any market or fruit shop. Also like the lemon tree is a small decorative tree, many times we get it in some garden. Whether as a dressing in salads and all kinds of foods, in juice, or combined with other foods, lemon is a wonderful source of health.
The lemon belongs to the family of rutáceas and, within it, to the group of citrus fruits. It is a beautiful tree that can reach 4 or 5 meters in height. Its trunk has thorny branches and its leaves are green, this tree gives a number of white flowers.
Its fruit is an oval or rounded berry with a conical tip. The scientific name of this fruit is "Citrus Limonum". When the fruit is ripe, the skin has to turn yellow. In addition to its juice, the lemon rind is also used in different ways ranging from the medicinal to the gastronomy, specifically in the confectionery the lemon peel is very used to give a spectacular flavor to cakes and puddings.
The medicinal properties of lemon are really impressive. Just look at the list of some diseases for which this fruit is advisable: gastric acidity, acne, aphonia, tonsillitis, arteriosclerosis, arthritis, asthma, bronchopulmonism, and many more, I think it would not finish enumerating them.
This is because on the one hand the lemon is a kind of "acid-eater" (strange substances), and on the other hand, because it is rich in vitamin C. Sometimes it is enough to just take your juice or apply it in the affected area , in other cases it requires some preparation along with other elements.
Did you know that the preparation of lemon juice with the juice of an onion or garlic, has great antiseptic properties, for cleaning wounds and disinfection.
Source. Here I will share with you some of the natural methods of medicine that we apply in our home, with this wonderful fruit, that my grandmother taught us.
- Tea for inappetence: prepare an infusion with lemon leaves, celery root, thyme and artichoke leaves, put water and boil for about 5 minutes, once it is warm, strain it and drink a cup before the meal.
- For uric acid: dissolve the juice of 3 lemons in half a glass of water, drink in the morning on an empty stomach, for 10 days. Interrupt a week and then repeat.
- Against rheumatism and neuralgia: cut a lemon in half and rub on the affected area, repeat the procedure several times a day.
- Mixture for the flu: this one in particular was the one I liked the least, but it was definitely effective. Mix the juice of a lemon with an egg white, beat for 10 minutes and take a spoonful in the morning and another in the afternoon.
Well dear friends I hope this post is useful. Always have in this little house this magical fruit, for one never knows when it will help you.
