English Phrasal Verbs (223/365) - Stumble On/Upon

To stumble upon something/somebody means to discover or meet something/somebody by accident.

Example sentence:

  • I took a walk yesterday along the river. I stumbled upon a horse race track. I was presented with really nice photo opportunities.
  • The content discovery platform StumbleUpon will shut down because the founder is moving to a new app. That is unlikely to happen to Steem because Steem is decentralized.
