Tim Miller's adaptation of the Marvel comic, starring Ryan Reynolds, generated 51 complaints about strong language, bloody violence and sex references, says the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).The film is ranked 15 by the BBFC, which says that "though the violence is strong and frequently bloody, this often occurs during fast-paced action sequences with little focus on detail".There is also "a comic tone to the violence", while the film's "fantastical setting further distances it from reality", it says.
The figures come from the BBFC's annual report on age ratings. At number two, registering 30 complaints from British viewers, was anti-hero thriller Suicide Squad.David Ayer's film about a team of disjointed super villains received complaints related to "moderate violence".Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children was also found "too scary" by some 20 people who complained about it.
