Now I know that the Netflix series and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are connected, but it is unlikely that they will ever overlap (i.e. seeing Daredevil in Infinity Wars) but anything is possible and those ideas are not the point of this post. I definitely think there is the potential to bring more characters to life to join the expansive gallery already in the MCU.
Already in MNU
- Daredevil
- Jessica Jones
- Luke Cage (debuted in Jessica Jones, recieved solo series)
- Iron Fist
- The Punisher (Daredevil, season 2 as well as an upcoming series)
- Elektra (Dardevil, season 2)
WHO SHOULD JOIN
Blade
The movies were fantastic, but there needs to be a reboot. The MCU and MNU both have gone into some out there things, such as magic, homicidal robots, and Norse gods so I wouldn't necessarily believe that vampires aren't that far out there in terms of the big picture.
If I were the higher up in charge, I would cast Dayo Okeniyi as The Daywalker. At 28, he can be at the perfect balance of someone who has been doing this for awhile and someone who has a lot of longevity in the role.
Moon Knight
Moon Knight was tacitly referred to in Captain America: Winter Soldier, and has since sparked speculation as to whether he would join. This would be unlikely, as Moon Knight is an incredibly dark character.
My only concern would be how his Dissociative Identity Disorder is handled. Since the accusations of "cultural appropriation" have gone towards those affiliated with Iron Fist, I am concerned of the backlash for "ableism" would go towards Moon Knight.
Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider was introduced in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC; however, the Ghost Rider they used was Robbie Reyes (absolutely fantastic by the way). What I personally would envision with a Ghost Rider Netflix show would either be 1) a modern iteration of Johnny Blaze (portrayed by Norman Reedus hopefully?) or 2) a modern take on Carter Slade, who was featured in Ghost Rider, played by Sam Elliot.
I would be okay with either option, as Johnny severely needs a re-imagining and Reedus could play perfectly into the darker tone that the Netflix series have. If Marvel went the Carter Slade route, though, they could cast someone (Scott Eastwood perhaps?) that could capture the rough and tumble spirit of the Old West. I am a firm believer that a Western Marvel series or film could do really well and I would very much like to see that explored.
The Thunderbolts
I have written an article in the past, but this one rings as really important to me. Since (in my opinion) Suicide Squad wasn't that great of a movie, Marvel would do well to take advantage of that and bring in an ensemble of not only established characters, but ones who have been introduced through the shows. This wouldn't have to be put into production right away, but this should be done at some point.
I think The Thunderbolts would be great for a Netflix show, especially since they're already doing The Defenders. And now that Dr. Strange has been introduced, I think it's more likely that the other three characters can find their way into the mix at some point.
Regarding the team-ups with the movie characters - I think they've pretty much shot that down, unless it's just a quick cameo or a mention like they've done in the movies/shows already. But they have said that they will tie in together...such as the Infinity Wars will have an impact on the street-level heroes. That the war with the cinema characters will certainly bleed over into the Netflix universe. So, that should be cool to see.
The only thing I don't like about Netflix and these shows is that they're limited to only two per year right now. They should ramp up production and do at least three, but four would be better. They only shoot about 10 - 12 episodes, so it's not that much to pull off, given that they're mostly a different cast of characters for each of the shows.

Yeah I hate that the team-ups will not be likely to happen, but that makes me wonder how they're going to get the supposed 68 characters in Infinity War.
I like the idea of more shows per year (I actually think 2017 will have three), but at the same time I'm concerned about over saturating the market.
