Former US President Barack Obama is the "most admired man" by the Americans, a distinction he secures for the tenth consecutive year, beating Donald Trump, according to a poll published by Gallup.
The annual poll indicates that Democrat Obama (who was in the White House from January 2009 to January 2017) was chosen by 17% of Americans, three percentage points ahead of Republican Donald Trump, the current trustee. Still, Obama lost five percentage points over 2016, his last year as a White House tenant.
In third place was Pope Francisco, ahead of the Rev. Billy Graham, the Republican senator and the former presidential candidate John McCain, or the executive director of Tesla electric car company Elon Musk.
In its annual survey, Gallup asks the Americans not only who´s the man they admire the most, but also who´s the woman.
In the women's ranking, the winner - for the 16th consecutive time - was Hillary Clinton, Democrat candidate for the November 2016 presidential election, defeated by Donald Trump. In total, Hillary Clinton has been named the woman most admired by the Americans on 22 occasions.
This year was supported by 9% of respondents, its lowest score since 2002, and only 2 percentage points ahead of former First Lady Michelle Obama. The list of ladies also includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel and current First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
This Gallup survey has been conducted since 1946 - with the exception of the year 1976.
