We are often fascinated by incredible and bizarre stories that happen in Brazil and around the world. So much so that this niche of strange content grows more and more and moves thousands of vehicles and newspapers around the world. Because of this, we can end up falling into scams without even realizing it.
Over the years, several stories that had everyone fascinated turned out to be lies. People who take advantage of situations to get along or even stories that end up being distorted over the years can be responsible for our belief in farces and lies.
We Brazilians already believe in some of these stories that, looking at today seem absurd for having been thought to be true, but which at the time seemed true. We show some of them.

Thomas Green Morton, better known as the Man of Ra, made many people believe he had super powers. The “Fantastic” did a report with him showing that he, supposedly, could bend and break cutlery. As well as being able to extract scented oils from his own hands, and make lights appear when he screamed.
Between the 1980s and 1990s, man was even considered the greatest psychic in the world. Several friends, journalists and acquaintances reported on the phenomena. And in his book, Thomas said the powers were given to him after lightning struck him.
However, Thomas was unmasked by Padre Quevedo. The reality was that Thomas's “powers” were nothing more than simple magic tricks.

Everyone who grew up in the 1990s remembers the history of Chupa Cabra. It was in “Programa do Gugu” that the story began. The presenter even gathered experts to prove the existence of this strange and menacing animal.
At the time, the entire press embraced the idea and even began to collect testimonials from people who claimed to have found the animal. According to scholars, this legend has won the world with supposed records in North America, Central America, Brazil and Russia.
Several theories have been created regarding this legend. And after nearly 20 years, no conclusions have been reached about its veracity.

6 – Edelarzil Cardoso Medium
This medium said that she could talk to spirits and that she had the power to identify spells that disrupted people's lives. The medium's signs came from a large cotton swab that was always turned over.
It was also Father Quevedo who unmasked her. It was the medium herself who placed the objects inside the cotton and took them out.
