In India this month of Jan has all been about the Coldplay concerts. Since the time the tickets booking started the madness had begun. In the ongoing world tour of Coldplay, India has also been one destination. I am not very sure, but I think they did a total of 4 shows in India of which 3 in Mumbai and 1 in Ahmedabad and all of them have been superhit.
When the ticket booking had opened up some 4 months before during that time itself, it was all sold out. Some of my friends who were keen on going did not even get the tickets during that time. Just in 1 hour of booking opening everything was sold out and I guess the tickets were blocked up by agents, because then near to the dates tickets started getting available in the market and they were being sold at a premium price. In Mumbai all the 3 shows were super filled up. In Mumbai at a time around 35k to 40K people attended the concert and in Ahmedabad it was a record breaker. In Ahmedabad the concert was at the Narendra Modi stadium which is the largest cricket stadium in the world and here the number was the largest with 1.34k people attending the concert.
It is said that so far this has been Coldplay's one of the largest concert in India with a total of 2.23 fans attending the concert. It was a craze beyond words. For the whole month everyone was talking just about the concert. Quite a few of my friends also went, and I felt I missed it. During the last show in Ahmedabad they had a live streaming and I watched that and I felt it was worth all the hype. He was exceptional with his performance and he swayed the crowd all throughout those 2 hours of the show. From the start to the end the energy was magical. Watching it on television was such an excitement, then I can imagine what it must have been in real.
Some people paid crazy prices to get the tickets and then it was just not about the tickets, people who came from other cities to watch the concert had to book their travel and stay and everything was hiked up. The hotels had increased their rates, the flight on those few days had premium prices. To think about it, just one man could do all of this and one can understand what level of energy he holds. I must admit, I missed it. My neighbor had gone for the show and I could have gone with her but then I was travelling during that time and I could not, and I did not even anticipate show of this level.
In this case I do not know if there will be a next time or not, but I hope they do it again once more in India then I can attend.
