James Franco perfectly realized Tommy Wiseau in the film.

The Golden Globe for best actor James Franco received for his role as the eccentric Tommy Wiseau in "The Disaster Artist". However, he does not count to the Oscar nominees - presumably because, after the Globe Awards, women denounced him for sexual harassment some years ago. The film is nominated in the category Best Adapted Screenplay.

James Franco plays Tommy Wiseau, this mysterious, bizarre man of whom one does not know exactly where he comes from, how old he is and why he has so much money that he could afford it, as a writer, producer and lead actor of a film To spend six million dollars in the early 2000s: "The Room" premiered in 2003 in a cinema rented by Wiseau. What he certainly meant very seriously, came to the joke and is considered one of the worst films of all time. And as is often the case with crap, this is a cult: "The Room" is played frequently, especially in the United States, the visitors talk about the grotesquely bad dialogues, throwing objects around, laughing tears.

James Franco is dedicated to the before, shows a loving homage to a spinner and dreamer. Between Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero a peculiar purpose community and eventually friendship develops. The two move to LA to succeed as an actor. After the failure fails, Wiseau makes just his own Hollywood movie.

Greg Sestero (shown very sympathetically in the film by Dave Franco) shortly after the release of "The Room" wrote the book "The Disaster Artist" about the genesis, based on Franco's film. He studied Wiseau closely, the Eastern European accent, the manic style as well as his charm and narcissistic self-expression urge. How well he does that, shows the trailer, in which original and Franco scenes are shown in parallel: amazing!
