Ok, so that is probably a given title, but I’ll go through some of the more juicy facts in this story. I (16, f, white) am best friends with a girl (15, f, black) and have been since the 2nd grade, we’ll call her BFF, because that’s basically her status among all of my friends, we love each other, and spend a lot of time together, even in quarantine, just playing video games.
Quite recently, she came over to my house (we were allowed to see each other in person) and we just hung out, talked about the usual stuff, and we had lunch. One of my neighbors, who is super catholic, and super conservative, came over, (our EP) and asked to eat some of our food. Here’s how the conversation went at the door.
Me: Oh, hey Mr. EP, how’s it been?
EP: Oh, nothing much, just checking on people in the neighborhood. I noticed that you had an extra car in the driveway, are you having friends over?
Me: Yup, we’re just finishing lunch.
EP: Ooh, is that spaghetti I see?
Me: Yeah, but we’re actually uh...(I tried to think of an excuse of why he couldn’t come in, and I decided to call my mom and dad over.)
I sit back down, and my parents come back with EP, and they start serving him up.
EP: Um, I think you and your friends can leave, it’s just your parents I want to talk to.
BFF’s mom (BFFM): We’re still having our food, so we’ll stay here.
EP: Well, God doesn’t want to be around people with your same demeanor, and I follow by his example.
Me: Hey, what’s that supposed to mean? Because they’re African American?
BFF: Yeah, we were invited here, something I can’t say for you, it looks like you barged in!
EP: And this is exactly why! You black people are so less civilized, so I don’t want you sitting here with me, much less describe my day to a group of thugs.
Mom: EP, that’s not ok, if you’re going to continue to be like this, I’ll ask you to leave.
EP: Ok, I’m sorry! Geez, I didn’t realize that it was unrealistic to dislike thugs, and you’re obviously raising a lesbian!
Dad: Watch your mouth jackass, you can’t throw around accusations like that, and even if my daughter was a lesbian, we’d still treat her with love and respect.
EP: WOW, I can’t believe you are the man of the house, you don’t respect or fear god at all.
BFF: Hey dude, what would Jesus do?
EP: YOU, can shut your mouth, you N*****.
BFF immediately slaps him. He laughs.
EP: you are just proving my point, you just have such simpler minds.
Me: Ok, that’s it, you can leave now, EP, I have no words. You’ve taken this from a 0 to a 100, and ruined our day together, just because you wanna tell us how Sunday mass was! Get the hell out.
EP: Well, I’m glad to leave, I was just trying to protect you, but now I get to laugh, because you’re all going to hell for defending the devil’s children.
BFF: Buddy, we aren’t tryna defend you.
EP just gets up and leaves, saying he’ll tell everyone in the neighborhood that I’m a whore who supports black people, and that my mom and dad are dangerous. But we haven’t gotten any negative attention from our neighbors at all, in fact, we got a letter from his WIFE, telling us that she’s super disappointed in him. Whenever we got it, I instantly sent a picture to BFF.
In conclusion, I just don’t know how this guy could instantly be so horrible to me, my family, my friends, and to the whole race that is the African Americans, and in such a short time, too. Especially because he was disguising it as being a “righteous warrior of god.”
