5 Tips For Selling On eBay And Making Bigger Profits. Plus Bonus My Top 10 eBay Hot Items

This is to help out any new sellers or maybe some tips to help boost profits while selling on eBay.

  1. Sart you auctions on Tuesday at 9 pm Central Time for a 5-day auction and Sunday at 9 pm for a 7-day auction. This means they will both close at 9 pm on Sunday night. This is the best time for closing auctions, more people home equal more final bids which in turn equals more profit.

  2. I use auction-style listings when selling med to high-end collectibles, start the bid at $9.99 to $19.99 depending on how much you have into it and basically let it go until the auction ends. If you are brand new, sell very cheap items, start at .99 with easy shipping example: costume jewellery, to build up your feedback rating quickly.

  3. Take amazing pictures!! I try to take my pictures in natural sunlight outdoors and make sure you do close-ups for finely detailed items. If you must do pictures indoors invest in a folding 3-way poster board and maybe one background or flood light. Take the front, back, top and bottom. Don't take shortcuts.

  4. I try to do very detailed item descriptions and include everything possible about the item. I have seen some people selling a vintage item and say vintage lamp for sale, for the item description. I like to describe it and explain all the details, Make sure you give the measurements, the age of the item, new or used. Make sure you tell the customer if it has a few blemishes or flaws. Build value in the item.

  5. Tracking and Shipping: I always tell people in the listing I include tracking and delivery confirmation. You may have to pay a little more but it will save you massive headaches in the long run. Once an item sells pack the item and if it's fragile buy bubble wrap and packing peanuts. If it's glass you always double-box with a layer of peanuts in between the boxes. Just pack it while keeping in mind, if you drop the box, will it break? If the answer is no, then you packed it properly. Then mail the item using courier or mail service. Once you have the receipt, you send an email and update eBay right away with the tracking number. If you have your account linked to email with the postal or courier, you will receive an email once the item is delivered.

My favorite band the doors

Hey, The Doors are also my favourite and I think now I have about 100 collectibles. I saw them live in Tampa, Florida with Ian Ashbury as the lead singer. It was amazing. Still think Jim was the greatest poet songwriter of his era. Cheers :)

I like them but maybe not as obsessed as you. wow 100 collectibles

Nice Mork & Mindy doll.

I've heard some sellers say that you're better off, for specific collectibles (eg, nintendo games, that sort of thing), listing at a buy-it-now price. Any thoughts on that?

Depends if the game is a common game or not, then I would go to completed auctions and find the average selling price and list a BIN. If it's a rare game I would rather try to go for the gold. Start it low on a Sunday night around 9pm and just let it go, the collectors know what they want and some might be trying to finish a collection. Sometimes you may get a bidding war especially with sniper software now and this can be huge $$ for you. Hope this helps. :)

This is some super useful info. I got a buddy who sells toys on instagram and facebook. He's pretty much full time just doing that these days.

Congrats and respect for all those able to rock out that hustle. Stay in touch. I liked this post.

(oops, i left the wrong link to my friend's Online Toy Store. This is him. But I can't find the link to his store. I don't instagram much.. https://www.facebook.com/dave.farrar.10?fref=ts)

Thanks, i'm glad you liked it. I will try to put up a few more eBay posts and helpful tips. It's still the best platform for rarities and collectibles.
