For this exercise, I'd like you to select one book from the Official ENT 3003 Reading List you have not read. If you select a biography, please follow the instructions for Reading Reflection No. 1 in your post. If you select a book from the second half of the reading list, please follow the instructions for Reading Reflection No. 2 in your post.

• What surprised you the most? Ray Kroc wasn’t a hamburger man, he was a business man and that is what he saw McDonalds as…A profitable business.

• What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? I liked how he was already vested in the hamburger business by selling McDonalds milk shake makers. He saw a much bigger opportunity and took it on by the horns.

• What about the entrepreneur did you least admire? I think he could have used the McDonald’s brothers more to his advantage. Or he could have worked the deal a little better in their favor.

• Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it? I think all entrepreneurs encounter sometime of failure or adversity and Ray Kroc wasn’t any different. When you are a game changer, sometimes it takes time for the public to realize the change is for the better.

• What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?

Ray Croc was able to see an opportunity even before it was in existences. He was able to develop a business model and stick to it. Even more importantly he was able to duplicate that business model to be successful in many places around the United States.

Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you. One thing that confused me was why didn’t Ray Kroc just start his own hamburger shop instead of buying the name McDonalds. I am aware he loved the name, but he could have picked plenty of other names…. Maybe Burger king or even Wendy’s? I think McDonalds is successful not because of its name, but because of how it is operated.

If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?

• Do you think artificial intelligence is going to be the biggest changer to your industry?

• Where do you see McDonalds domestically in the next 25 years? What about in foreign markets?

For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?

I think Ray Kroc believes in hard work is the only option to being successful, and I couldn’t agree more with that moto!
