I use STEEMIT for my required school blog. I am trying to get more students to adopt this platfrom. Below is my required assignment.
The who: The problem I discussed earlier was the issue with the real estate industry and the amount of trust needed to operate in it. Buying a house is one of the largest purchases, if not the largest purchase of ones life. First time homebuyers rely greatly on third parties to guide them in the right direction. These third parties are local realtors/brokers, title companies, home inspectors, home appraisers, and even attorneys.
- One interview also brought a good point to the table. We found out that some people that have bought multiple properties throughout their life tend to want to work on their own. They believe in the motto of “Caviate Emptor”, let the buyer beware. They would rather save the money and do it on their own.
The What: My third interview was with a realtor that was invested in block chain. He had an in depth which really had me thinking about block chain combined with real estate in greater detail. This realtor was stressing to me the fact that in real estate everything needs to be done in a timely manner or you can be charged with a large fine or even jail time. Realtors have a strict time frame to abide by when depositing clients escrow money. With block chain the money will be automatically withdrawn when the money is deposited. It will also keep a digital ledger of every transaction.
The Why: I believe the real estate market can use a change to speed things up and make them more reliable. People rely on trust and with block chain that can help fix the problem.

Having timestamped, non-alterable records of a house's condition over time would be huge. If you can offer "Blockchain Verified" houses as an agent, who would choose anything else?
Makes a ton of sense to me, although it will take a long time to manifest - people need to start tracking now, and then in 10-20 years there will be enough info to really be useful for new buyers and sellers.
I'm currently spreading the word here at #UniversityOfCentralFlorida. Next stop, the moon!

@heymattsokol That is true it would take some time to implement, but the long term security would be amazing!
