If you are a Filipino then you must be very familiar of Boracay Island. Boracay is a very well-known tourist spot destination in the Philippines and having this fascinating spectacular place is one of our greatest prides as a Filipino.
At present, DILG endorse placing Boracay under state of calamity this week due to human hazard. Boracay is in danger of turning into an environmental disaster due to the spotty enforcement of sanitation and wastewater rules to which is further emphasize by the island’s incomplete sewerage and drainage system that results to algal bloom in the area. Also, tourism development in the said locality is causing sand erosion, coastal pollution and adverse environmental changes.
Now, my main question is who is to blame for this human induced calamity in Boracay? Is it the management? The people? The government?
For me, all of us are responsible on what is happening to Boracay. Being insensitive on how to take care of the nature’s gift to humanities makes us incapable of doing our responsibilities to our environment. We are all responsible to what is happening to Boracay, not just the management, or the government, but all of us. We should know our role in protecting the environment specially this places that are blessed with great spectacular landscapes. These places are like God’s gift to all of us, therefore, we should take a very good care of it the way we should be.
I, as an Environmental Engineering student, strongly believe that Awareness and Discipline is the key to protect this Island or the Environment. People, or shall I say tourists, visiting the place must be aware of what is happening and what will happen if they’ll do this and that to these tourist spot they’ve been into. Being aware follows discipline. Take for example, the basic, which is throwing garbage. If each individual visiting a certain place knows the effect of garbage to the environment then they must discipline their self of not just throwing it anywhere. Knowing these things is very important.
Nice post but there's a small error on the links of your "image source." Instead of putting the direct source of the image, you are using the "google search result link."
To get the direct source of the image, right-click it and click "open image in new tab" and you can have the direct link of the image.

The local government in Boracay should have made a Sewage Treatment Plant in the first place. It's a necessity for an Island. I'd like to see what will they do to clean this mess up.

I wonder if they have EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) document, coz if they do, why did this calamity happen to the island, it's quite sad how a very fascinating place turns out like this :(
