7 Things I Do to Save the Earth, Bathroom Edition

I use washable “toilet paper.” Much cheaper than a bidet. I have a little bin to put the dirties in and it’s just for me. It sounds weird to some people but it’s really not that difficult. I use primarily for light work, so to speak. For the rest I buy bamboo toilet paper (tree free and septic safe).

I am once again trying bar shampoo. I like the idea but with waist length hair it is sometimes laborious. I also dye my hair purple so I’m always hunting for shampoo that’s easier on the color.

I want to get a safety razor. That’s supposed to be the happy medium between the disposable bead razors and a straight razor. But I have a couple months of razor refills left so I may as well use them.

I have some DIY cleaner recipes I intend to try as soon as I finish the cleaners I already have. I’ll share my thoughts and the recipes as I get to using them. I am left a little under whelmed by some of the natural or eco friendly cleaners. I know Mrs Meyers is a popular one but I have yet to find it effective in my home. Still uses plastic bottles too so I’m trying to find ways to reduce those.

I also have DIY body butter, lotion, deodorant creams, toothpaste etc. have you heard of Natural Vegan Club? They’re the products I’m trying next. They also have designed a compostable bottle that is on Kickstarter that I love the idea. I’m also experimenting with hand made, vegan, sustainable cosmetics.

I’m enjoying reading your ideas. Thanks for sharing!

Those are some good ideas to think about. I may also consider a safety razor, however I also have quite a few refils left and because of the alcohol they last like 3 to 4 months each.
