Japan officially began discharging the fifth batch of water contaminated by the Fukushima nuclear disaster, which will continue until May 7, and the emissions are roughly the same as the previous four, still about 7,800 tons. This is the first approved contaminated water discharged by the Fukushima nuclear power plant in 2024 (April 2024 to March 2025), and 54,600 tons of contaminated water will be discharged in the whole year, a significant increase from about 30,000 tons in 2023.
