The Team at environment4change are continually looking out for awesome companies with which to reach out to and collaborate with bringing digital synergies and awareness to environmentalism, and growing a more informed community along the way. This week I want to share with you some details of an organisation called, The Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature. ‘The Alliance’ in short. This group touches on a very misunderstood, mis-appreciated and misrepresented omission being our legal statutes generally do not recognise, value and thus protect the rights of nature as having an inherent value. It is only when nature is not valued, within itself, that some industries grow and thrive based on the premise of nature is owned and thus can be traded via the mechanisms of supply and demand.
"Under the current system of law in almost every country, nature is considered to be property, a treatment which confers upon the property owner the right to destroy ecosystems and nature on that property. When we talk about the “rights of nature,” it means recognizing that ecosystems and natural communities are not merely property that can be owned, but are entities that have an independent right to exist and flourish. Laws recognising the rights of nature thus change the status of natural communities and ecosystems to being recognised as rights-bearing entities with rights that can be enforced by people, governments, and communities." It is clear environment4change and ‘The Alliance’ have a lot in common, with different ideas on how to achieve it. As far as we are concerned this is ‘All Good,’ as we come from saving Mother Earth from different (but complementary) directions. Coming from a technology background we see by applying a Platform as-a-Service architecture and economics to environmentalism, we can scale environmentalism to help save the planet.
What is extremely important to the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature is their firm, profound and unwavering opinion against financialization of nature in forms such as CO2 offsets, carbon offsets, water pollution trading, etc.
The primary premise of ‘the Alliance’ is that in order to insure an environmentally sustainable future, humans must reorient themselves from an exploitative and ultimately self-destructive relationship with nature, to one that honours the deep interrelation of all life and contributes to the health and integrity of the natural environment.

We are bound together in so many more ways than separate us. Having the global environment experience a net beneficial improvement is something we all yearn for and are committed to achieving. The methodology of achieving the end goals may differ slightly, the intent to put Mother Earth before all other desires does not. We celebrate the finding of this kindred spirit, and promise to respect our differences as much as the things that unite us. environment4change is now a proud member of ‘the Alliance’ and we invite all to give them your support.
