EDNA is certainly one of the most fascinating and far reaching projects on EOS. Their goal is basically putting DNA on chain. It had gotten a lot of attention via the airdrop, but since then it has become a bit quiet about them.
Now they have launched a brand new site, that aside from the white paper, gives a lot of new information about how this project is intended to operate:
https://edna.life/
To get the basic of Edna, i recommend you to watch Matt "Costa Rica Crpyto's" interviews with founder Greg:

To me the major takeaways of the new website are the following:
1) Technology & Lab Setup: They have a plan about how to economically and logistically sequence DNA and put it on the blockchain, which, according to Greg, should be affordable to the average person.
2) DAC: The Dac is the participating community, not just EDNA token holders, representing "every genome" on chain, which currently is equivalent to accounts (as there are no genomes on chain). A very democratic approach. The DAC will be in controll of all operations of EDNA, and will appoint custodians, to handle everyday business.
3) EDNA token: As stated above, EDNA is not supposed to be a base vor controlling the DAC. But it's the base for rewards, generated from research. Here again, the token alone is not that powerful. Greg's proposal gives a 1:1 for simple staking, 2:1 for staking and a 10:1 reward if ones DNA is used for research, so its a lot about personal investment.
wouldn't want my DNA on the blockchain as my DNA is already a blockchain (DNA is simply an organic database) and easily accessible to me. If it is on a general blockchain it is open to abuse.

That's certainly true, yet i guess the idea is, you can have it secured on the blockchain, or you can give it, once required, to some laboratory that then sells off your entire genome data along with your identity to pharma whales... watch the video (yes its a bit alarmist)

Yep suppose that is a risk too

I think you can only stake it here: https://staking.edna.life/
Hope you haven't forgotten your keys ;-)
