Wrap Contract

User Achilles asks a lot of questions about the wrap. ‘What’s your opinion? Should the BP follow the ECAF’s order to act? Can BPs decide what they want to do?’ He thinks the channel should consider to limit the BP’s power. Without an arbitration order, the BP shouldn’t be able to freeze any account. ‘We can predict that over 15/21 can do what they want. Then they can even kick out any BP or any person they have any conflict with. It’s quite dangerous.’

User Sun Tzu: ‘The BPs can do anything anyway, the purpose of ECAF ruling is to make it clear that they are following a process not just making it up on their own. Any use of wrap should be following an ECAF ruling, and if not, the community should zero in on what’s happening.’
User Luka Percic says it’s the same in any crypto. The BPs are incentivized not to do that, if they do they might destroy value of their voters and those voters would just vote them out. ‘This is why it would be better if BP provides blacklist on their own, that way voters can hold them accountable. Right now BP can freeze accounts, and pretend it’s ECAF’s fault. That leaves voters dumbfounded without the ability to stop the freezes.’

DACs

User's nutela and Sun Tzu discuss the common law and where ‘persons’ (natural or legal) are defined. Sun Tzu says ‘The term ‘legal fiction’ means that in terms of the law, we believe as if they are a person, but we know they are not. And they cannot do anything without people behind them, pushing the button or signing contract. Referendum working group

User Yves La Rose: ‘The referendum working group met today to check in on open issues. They held a go/no-go vote for their public beta phase. The team identified some outstanding show-stopper issues with the tally and UI and voted no-go. Chinese BP’s

User sudowrap stirs up a discussion within the channel that the top 21 BP’s (when he sees the bp list) is filled with Chinese BP’s. The channel tries to ask why this is a problem and what he is worried about.
After a while user Todor says that it’s a serious concern, he thinks however that there are other more likely ways for the government (any government, not just Chinese) to try to impose their own rules on blockchains. He elaborates on that in the channel but it boils down to the following points:

1. We need 15/21 BPs to enforce such an operation. In other words ‘governments’ would have to have direct control over 15 active BPs.
2. Sudo/wrap doesn’t enable this. It just makes it easier and more transparent. A government would likely try to impose their rules through their puppet BPs even if we don’t have sudo/wrap.
3. We have arbitration, an official channel that can tell BPs which decisions to enforce. They are more likely to be a target for governments.

Chinese BP’s
