EOS Brazil - Block Producer Candidacy Announcement

in eos •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello everyone, Alex of EOS Brazil here. We are happy to make a *cough*lastminute*cough announcement of our candidacy for EOS block producer. Our voter appeal lies in our demonstrated passion for EOS as well as the under-representation of our geographic region (compare: the 2 or 3 candidates in South America (including us), vs the 2,147,483,647 candidates in China)

Our Website - https://eosbrazil.com

Twitter page - https://twitter.com/eosbrazil

Location

Joinville, Brazil (with servers in Sao Paulo and Joinville)

Type of servers

AWS cloud servers based in Sao Paulo, scaling plans include moving off cloud servers into bare metal ASAP

Employees

Co-Founder - Ricardo Marliere

Experienced in Linux server administration and programming. Has been engaging with the EOS community and admining Telegram groups, and contributing to the community testnet. He has been nominated for inclusion in the EOS genesis block as a significant community contributor.

Co-Founder - Alex Kureya

Experienced in Linux administration and accounting. Has been engaging with the Japanese crypto community to spread the news of EOS.

Expenses

1x r4.4xlarge for the producer node: $1612.80 / mo
2x r4.4xlarge for the full nodes: $3225.60 / mo
2x t2.xlarge for the proxies: $214.28 / mo
Extrapolating, since we don't know beforehand how soon we'll need to scale up and  change our stack to accommodate demand, we expect to cover the costs on  the first couple of months with $10000.

Scaling

We don't just want to add AWS instances and call it a day, if we are elected we'd like to move to a physical data center by the end of the year so as not to be reliant on cloud servers. To that end, we have already purchased some beefy hardware to start with. (See website for details)

Community Benefit Projects

We are pledging 50% of our net profits as block producer to go towards incubating community dapps developed in South America. We will also be maintaining a blog (English and Portuguese) to keep the Brazilian community updated on important EOS developments, as well as idiot-proof tutorials in order to enable the community to create EOS contracts as easily as possible.

Roadmap

This is of course subject to change depending on various factors (ideally we would get several of these knocked out well ahead of schedule...)

Stance on Dividends

Some BPs are already providing voter kickbacks in the form of ERC-20 tokens. Hey, that’s cheating! Nevertheless, our stance is that for every token we distribute to voters that’s one less which can be used to contribute to community projects. So we will not be paying dividends to voters, instead we will pledge to community projects as stated above.

Testnet Nodes

We've been producing in the Superhero Testnet as "phoenix" and more recently "beast". Though the testnet is currently... how shall we say... down for maintenance

Sort Order:

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

change our stack to accomodate demand, we expect to cover the costs on  the first couple of months with $10000.
It should be accommodate instead of accomodate.
