Hi @eoslinks, I'm not a developer so i wouldn't know? my understanding is that Core code is written and compiled in C++ with OOP paradigm over FP for Wren as Smart Contract language, chosen for rapid development, ease of sandboxing, and integration with C++ APIs, basically just using WebAssembly as a higher level language for defining types, messages, databases, and permissions with the "body" of the message handlers being flexible (very flexible in comparison to solidity).
