A US citizen's book entry into steemit on how to get into the EOS smart contract blockchain. Part 3

This is an update to my steemit book entry on my venture into the new world of EOS.
Please refer to my previous intro using this link.

At one point this week I went to the bank for other errands and in the process found out that the bank will charge $15 for wire transfer after I fill out a form with all kind of wire transfer numbers. And then Kraken will charge me another $5 on top.
Great! So if I allocated let's $100 to go into cryptos, I would lose 20% before doing anything crypto. The same would happen if I was to go from cryptos to FRN. So to do a round trip I would loose 40% of that original $100. Ok, so let's say you instead decide to put $1000, that would be 4% for the round trip. Not everyone has got $1000 to put into something as volatile as crypto currencies.

In the mean time I found out that United Precious Metal Association, or UPMA https://www.upma.org, now offers crypto currency backed by US minted (capital gain tax exempted) Gold and Silver coins. I am currently a member of UPMA as I love their special gold vaulting service on US minted coins. They also have a debit card that draws from your precious metals account. I highly recommend them. They are backed by the state of Utah as Utah honors and supports the original, and the only, constitutional form of money.

Now with this newly formed company , Quintric, https://quintric.com/ (basically the same people that work at UPMA), I can convert my minted coins into gold or silver Quint tokens. Then I can trade my Quint tokens into EOS tokens in the bitshares exchange market. This will be great as I can bypass the FRNs altogether and can go right from real savings right into cryptos, and back, without any transaction fees, except for maybe a loss or a gain from interacting in the exchange market.

This is obviously changing the direction of my path into EOS world. So before the weekend I managed to open a Quintric account, and as well a bitshares account, to which I am not sure if I will absolutely need. Note: Bitshares was created by the same guy that created steemit and EOS, so it would only seem right for me to also be on bitshares to complete the set.

Quintric was easy and simple to set up, transferring funds from UPMA to Quintric is done with a person over the phone, this may seem antiquated but to me give me a sense of security. Quintric started service July 5th, and are still working out kinks. Sarah from Quintric was helpful in explaining all of the details and in handling my initial transfer of about $100 in silver and gold into Quint tokens. The transfer was supposed to take about an hour, normally should be about 5 min I believe, but due to kinks Sarah told me that I should see the tokens after the weekend on Monday.

Bitshares however, was a little confusing. It has a lot of options that use syn-tact that I am not familiar with. For example, after creating a use name with a password, it seems to be asking me to create another username for doing a particular transaction. I must be doing something wrong or simply don't understand what it is it wants me to do.

Anyway, it looks like I will be into EOS token sometime this week, so stay tuned for my next update next Sunday.
Until then enjoy your week.
