Wallet for EOS tokens?

in eos •  7 years ago

Is anyone aware of a wallet for storing EOS tokens?

As they are now being received via the ICO as well as being traded on Bitfinex I'm curios if there are options for storing them off exchange. I was unable to find any info regarding this on EOS.io or elsewhere online.
Cheers

I am looking for EOS web wallet

you have to keep your tokens so that they can become EOS in the new system and blockchain of EOS... the tokens now are contracts you have a public and a private key of your future EOS wallet right ?

I haven't participated in the ICO yet so I dont have a key for a future wallet. I did pick up a small amount via exchange and was hoping to move them off exchange if possible.

If you bought on an exchange you need to send them to a wallet like Myetherwallet or Mycrypto and then register your wallet address with EOS (it will cost you some gas). Once it is registered you get a EOS public and private keys. Then you leave your EOS there until the snapshot at the begging of June.

Your explanation is helpful, thank you. I’ve recently gone over articles regarding this EOS blockchain switch. All of them, including the one you pasted, makes this switch seem complicated.

There is now an easier way, Binance will do it for you, so you simply have your tokens on Binance and they will make sure you get the EOS tokens replaced.

Where did you learn this?

I put my EOS tokens on myetherwallet and registered them. What are the steps now if I don't want to leave them in that wallet? Can I put them in another wallet?

https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/ EOS is an asset made on ETH you can hold it on any eth wallet Official Ethereum Wallet
MyEtherWallet
Jaxx
Icebox
EtherLi Multi-Sig Wallet
imToken

How would you transfer them into Jaxx? Is it different from Myetherwallet?

Have you tried this?

I just use Exodus for storing my EOS. I was also able to swiftly exchange my Ether for EOS.

After testing and using Exodus months ago, I quickly scrapped it due to prohibitively expensive and far too high commissions.

Would metamask work?

thats not a wallet, just a website to eth blockchain connection

Yes you can store on meta mask -- remember must register wallet and you do this by going on my ether wallet. There are plenty of videos out there that will show you how - I am not super computer savy and I was able to do it, so I am sure most people will be able to do it.

thanks! planning to get some EOS for MEW

Hey Pixelfolly, how did it work out, i about to pick up some EOS, were you able to use any Ethereum wallet?? thx

@ragidyman I ended up holding my tokens on the exchange for a bit longer. I've since moved them to my Exodus wallet as they just recently added the token and I'm a pretty big fan of the wallet.

Hi @pixelfolly, I did pick up some EOS as well from Bitfinex and I am holding them in my Exodus wallet but I am not sure if that is the best way to hold them. I am assuming that it doesn't matter because the Exodus wallet supports Ether as well. What are your thoughts?

At their website: https://eos.io/instructions they claim that the exodus wallet is not comparable. So, probably not updated. This token seems so complicated to get a hold off.

Exodus charges are skyhigh. I tried that months ago. Scam!

Hey @lucky.digger , if you own some EOS, what wallet do you use?

Lol, I'd rather pay a fee on exodus than store them on an exchange where I could lose them all to a hack.

There are a number of reasons why you should shy away from Exodus: https://bitedge.com/blog/exodus-wallet-has-bad-privacy-and-security/

EOS is an Ethereum token, so you can use MyEtherWallet to store them, although I recommend you purchase a Trezor or other hardware wallet if you are going to be involved in crypto in any fashion.

Can you store EOS on the Ledger Wallet Nano S?

Not that I know of.

yes through MyEtherWallet

Yes you can. Would recommend to combine it with MEW.

So your ledger nano s hooks up to the MEW ? I would think that is safe, would that be on the eos network in that wallet ?

EOS are currently erc20 place holder tokens, so stored on ETH chain

how can you store your eos tokens on the ledger nano s? i couldn't figure it out.

Just like any other erc20 token, use the ETH app

Bottom line... after 6 months nobody has been able to find a decent way to store EOS tokens. The choices are either to keep them on your exchange (not recommended ) or on Exodus Wallet which some here think is a scam because of their high fees.

Hi guys. Can someone help please. I have transferred all of my EOS tokens (large amount) to JAXX wallet for a semi safe keeping while i trade. I sent them from an exchange but they have disappeared!!! JAXX arnt responding and exchange saying not their issue! Of course receiving and sending address are identical and there is no issue as to why they wouldnt show up... Anyone have any suggestions.? Ive checked Etherledger and the only transactions that show up are other Ether ones i have performed in the Jaxx wallet. Should the EOS and Ether wallets in JAXX be the same address? Thank you in advance...anyone.

What exchange did you use? Also did you check under tokens in your Ether wallet?
