Binance rejects the public EOS key?

in eos •  7 years ago

I've bought some EOS and want to take advantage of this before the deadline. I've generated my own EOS public/private key using the generator linked above.
"Address verification failed".
So what am I missing? I've attempted to move 0 EOS to register this new EOS public key but with no EOS to pay the gas it was refused because I've never been able to move from Binance.

You know why?
Because for now, EOS is an ERC20 Token belonging to the Ethereum blockchain.

That does mean that for now, your EOS public address = your ETH public address.

Simply send your EOS on your ETH wallet, then check with etherscan if everything is ok.

If you do not have a private ETH wallet, you can create one at this address:
https://www.myetherwallet.com/#generate-wallet

Afterwards, you'll have to go on eos.io and register the pair of EOS key you have generated with your eos keygenerator, you'll have to pay a little gas transaction.

Then, go and check on etherscan and go and check your eth public key here:
https://eosauthority.com/
You'll get a confirmation if yes or no your pair of EOS Keys is linked to your ETH wallet for the snapshot before launch.

Let me know if you still have any problem after that.

Yes, thank you. That is not clear.
That said, I've moved the EOS to MEW public key and find that I have 0 ETH but I do have the expected amount of EOS.
So following the steps laid out here: https://steemit.com/eos/@sandwich/how-to-update-the-eos-public-key-mapped-registered-to-your-ethereum-wallet-with-myetherwallet-mew
I've selected the register function of EOS found within the MEW/#contract as described. But apparently it is still rejecting because I have no ETH in this account (but have EOS). So is that another step that must be taken? Thanks again for responding to this!

Because on the ethereum blockchain, you have to pay a gas fee in eth for every transaction. That's how Vitalin Buterin becamed rich.
You need to send a small amount of eth on your MEW in order to be able to afford the cost of your transactions. 0.015 eth should be enough.
