How will US$ 1.500.000.000 raised by EOS be used when they launch in 2018?

EOS seems to generate around US$ 1.5 billion in revenue from their active token sale. That's the number you get when you check their 350 'daily' sales from eosscan.io, which generates approx 15.000 ETH per 23 hours. Together with the initial ~ 650.000 ETH that makes close to 6 million ETH in one year. What will they do with this money?

Before I get to that, I must say that I kinda like EOS. Not that I understand all of it - not even close - but I like two things in particular:

  1. In contrast to Bitcoin and Ethereum, it's claimed to be blazingly fast and extremely cheap. As in: no transaction fees.
  2. Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum finds EOS worthy enough for some good debate. That means he cares

With all the shitcoins and failcoins ICO'ing on a daily base, it's a delight to be confronted with a new kid on the blockchain that has some disruptive ideas on a fundamental scale. Not that Dan Larimer - CTO from EOS - is new here, since he previously created BitShares and ... Steem/Steemit. He's a fuckin' cryptohero!

But back to the revenue from the Eos token sale. They're about to raise 1.5 billion. For what? This is what their FAQ says:

Note that English is not my native tongue, but I'd say that proceeds + revenue means: champagne showers!

Would they really want to keep this money for themselves and not pump it into the upcoming EOS blockchain?

Maybe this interview with Dan approx 2 weeks ago will shine a light on it:

At 21'54" Dan says the following:

"We're not crowdfunding. The money is not being used for development of software. Block.one has already raised all the money it needs to build the software".

Final question:

In what way will the holders of EOS token benefit from this token sale?
