It was recently announced that BitcoinLatina was moving to Bitshares. In fact, it did an airdrop to Bitshares token holders.
Now, it appears things have changed. Much like Vice decided to fork the STEEM blockchain instead of using SMTs, BitcoinLatina is going to be the first EOS based blockchain.
I received an email discussing this which linked to the FAQ page.
The team developing EOS, block.one, is building the EOS software but will not be launching a blockchain. Once development is complete, block.one will make the EOS software available through an open source license and BitcoinLatina will use that software to launch an EOS-based blockchain.
This is very interesting to me. The development team is not launching a blockchain, only the software. I knew that EOS was being designed to be akin to operating software but I did not know there was no blockchain from them.
Also, BitcoinLatina will be using the open source license to lauch the EOS-based blockchain.
When block.one is done developing the EOS software, BitcoinLatina’s team will tweak the software to include coin allocations to BitcoinLatina holders. Once that is complete, the blockchain will launch. The soonest this can possibly happen is after June 1, when the EOS ICO is complete.
It is no secret that the ETA for EOS was in June. BitcoinLatina is confirming this.
To me, it looks like they decided to ditch Bitshares and design their own blockchain UNLESS the blockhcian they are referring to is Bitshares. Numerous times they mentioned an EOS-based blockchain; this is something @stan alluded to, EOS and BItshares combining forces.
I am sorry this article creates more confusion than answers but it is an interesting turn of events.

I don't think Bitcoin Latina is ditching Bitshares. They had already forked the Etherium blockchain and were planning on integrating the Bitshares wallet and exchange for commerce applications. If anything this is a move towards Bitshares 3.0 and Bitcoin Latina will be a solid partner in bringing its customers to bitshares for financial applications.

That's also how I understood, that they're basically ditching the fork of Ethereum to move to an EOS based chain.
And bitshares was mainly just a place to trade the token all along, probably suggested and recommended by Stan.

As I understand the BitcoinLatina FAQ, they will be launching an "EOS-based" blockchain themselves. It also sounds like they will be choosing the "licensing" route. Of course they will need at least a 15% approval by EOS holders . . . if I am interpreting everything correctly - I'm still wrestling with all this too.

BitShares 3.0 = BitShares 2.0 + EOS in a TBD Mix
This was @stan's reply when I asked him about it.
So it is basically a union of the two technologies...in a to be determined mix. So BitcoinLatina going on EOS is actually going to be on Bitshares too....how much where, doing what....I guess that will be worked out.

Okay, I'll go with that. A kind of "merger" that is really more like a kind of symbiotic relationship?
The technicals are beyond me, but I know that @stan does fully understand them, is trustworthy and acting in 100% good faith.

Steem all the way for me. I don't need to diversify with another crypto. Gold, Silver, Steem, and any restaurant that has a dollar menu! I'm set. Thanks Task. 😎

Wish I hadn't mysteriously missed the ol airdrop!
I'm wondering how projects are going to move over to EOS, is there going to be some kind of compatibility between EOS and BTS?
How simple is transitioning

The answers to your questions are unknown by most of us at this point.
That is what is baffling. What we thought we knew seems like we didnt.
Or perhaps we did and are reading too much into this....
Or...or...or....
In short, I have no idea.

Haha, fair enough, did you ever check out appbase? Could be a good place to look for an article topic, I've been meaning to jump on there

Out of what I'm reading I can see 2 possible options:
What could this mean for Bitshares in case BTS will somehow join/unite with EOS? Most probably BTS might become EOS based dApp...
I haven't yet spent enough time to educate myself on EOS, so above are just my thoughts that could be wrong.

I would be led to your conclusions too except for the part that makes it appear that EOS isnt launching its own blockchain. I knew that EOS was going to be akin to an operating system yet I presumed there would be a blockchain to build upon.
Perhaps each token created will be responsible for their own blockchain....using the EOS software.
If that is the case, then BTS could implement EOS software into theirs..if approved as @cryptographic mentioned.

I just don’t grok EOS. But @dan is way smarter than I am. 😜
I can’t justify investing in something I don’t understand. Meh, that’s okay. I can invest in Steem and BTS. People smarter than me can invest in EOS.

I am going to have to research it more (I dont own any EOS either), but the operating system idea keeps coming up in what little I have read.
I can only surmise it has to do with interoperability of blockchains. Maybe EOS can be overlaid or serve as the basic programming for a blockchain.
And @dan is a lot smarter than me too.

Now I have even less of an idea of what is happening, but that's ok. I don't think it's going to affect me. Still, I forgive you. :D

[email protected] is a great post. Your information is so useful to us. More over I want to know that Bitcoin latina is new blockchian technology software, isn't it? If that how benefits of the user. Is it helpful for steemians.? I think also that.

Hi @taskmaster4450,
What's bitcoinlatina about? What is the problem it will resolve?

Really good question! I'm also looking to their value proposition. To be honoust: I have no clue what the added value of BCL is... I only can find a very high level whitepaper with vague quotes like 'bank the unbanked'...
