This is a series of short articles related to the OES phenomenon and its future implications:
For those like me who just heard about OES in the last 10 days, this is the official description on their official website eos.io:
"Decentralize Everything"
The EOS.IO software introduces a new blockchain architecture designed to enable vertical and horizontal scaling of decentralized applications. This is achieved by creating an operating system-like construct upon which applications can be built. The software provides accounts, authentication, databases, asynchronous communication and the scheduling of applications across hundreds of CPU cores or clusters. The resulting technology is a blockchain architecture that scales to millions of transactions per second, eliminates user fees, and allows for quick and easy deployment of decentralized applications.
The main idea here is that the network is build as a decentralised Operation System, which abstracts all the technical aspects and simplifies the process of building and maintaining applications running on the blockchain, this is done by presenting the applications with an abstraction layer similar to the one present in all modern OSs, and also managing all communication aspects between the apps and the decentralised computer, in this case, the blockchain.
The main difference so far is EOS's capability of processing Millions of transactions per second:
- Bitcoin: 3
- Ethereum: 30
- Visa/Mastercard: 20,000
- Facebook: 52,000
- Stock Market: 100,000
- Amazon Web Services: 1,000,000
- EOS: “Millions”
After this brief introduction to EOS, we will dive into the world of EOS, and analyse its future potential, and also shortcomings.
