You asked for it, and we listened: You can now import your existing EOS accounts and private keys into Wombat!
You no longer are forced to create a new account if you want to use Wombat, you now import a private key and use it just like any other Wombat-created account before. This also means that free resources (see this post ) and Wombat Prime will still be available for users who import their accounts, and these users also benefit from participating in our Wombattles.
How it works
The import feature is available when you start with a fresh Wombat account (meaning that you hadn’t created a Wombat account with your social login).
Upon setup, you can choose to import your existing account instead of getting a new one. Wombat will neither ask you for a GDrive / Dropbox key backup location (we assume you have already taken care of your private key backup if you’re importing it) nor for a new account name.
Then, your existing EOS account is ready to use with Wombat.
Please bear in mind:
If you log in with an existing Wombat account, Wombat will automatically restore your EOS account from your Wombat backup. If you want to import an account instead, you will have to use a different social login.
Account import is currently available for the Android app and the Chrome extension, and will very soon be available in the iOS app, too.
We hope that a lot of you will like this new feature. Our aim is to make using blockchain as easy as possible for everyone, but we don’t want to leave out those of you who already are users.
