According to a study, 70 out of every 100 hospitalized patients over 80 years of age in Peru who were not vaccinated against New Crown in the second wave of the New Crown epidemic eventually died, while the mortality rate among elderly patients over 80 years of age who received two doses of the New Crown vaccine was 1%, Peruvian newspaper El Público reported on 15 February.

The study reportedly analyzed data published by the Peruvian Ministry of Health on adults hospitalized with New Crown pneumonia between Feb. 9 and July 31, 2021. Study leader Percy Mehta Tristan said the findings show that people who receive the New Crown vaccine are less likely to be infected, and if they are, their symptoms are likely to be less severe and their mortality rate much lower.

The report noted that although Peru is promoting the New Crown vaccination process nationwide and continues to lower the age group, there are still some people who refuse the New Crown vaccination.

Peruvian President Castillo re-emphasized that the government's goal is to vaccinate 13 million Peruvians with two doses of the vaccine by the end of September, and as of 6 p.m. local time on the 14th, more than 13.15 million people had received at least one dose of the vaccine and more than 9.05 million had received two doses.

The Peruvian Ministry of Health released data on the new crown epidemic on September 14, showing that compared to the previous day's report, there were 936 new confirmed cases of new crown, including 520 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 2,162,294; there were 11 new deaths in a single day, with a cumulative total of 1,988,840 deaths.
