Yes diet, meditation, exercise, camaraderie and doing everything right can still lead to a buildup of toxins, chemicals aches and pains in the body. We cannot be 100% clean as there are too many factors we have no control over such as the environment and air we breath. The excess of C02 emissions, the products we use etc...

There are ways to add to your arsenal health inducing strategies.

Adding Epsom salt to your bath water creates a sort of reverse osmosis, which are capable of ridding the body of accumulated toxins. The bath is also nourishing to your body with its beneficial sulfate and magnesium, which have been proven over time to have enormous health benefits.

Magnesium is one of the most important minerals for the body and our overall health. It is responsible for many functions in a fine tuned body. It stimulates blood circulation, increases oxygen levels and boosts your muscles. Sulfates help boost joint and nerve health. Sulfates also have an enhancing effect for your skin as well as aid in reducing inflammation and detoxifying the body.

Other health benefits of Epsom salt baths:

  • Aids in Gout
  • Good for athlete's foot
  • Aids in muscle aches
  • Bruises
  • Toxin detox
  • Good for toe nail fungus

A few cautionary words for Epsom salt baths. As any natural remedy, there are precautionary measures. Women who are pregnant should not take Epsom salt baths, people with cardiovascular conditions should refrain as well. If you are dehydrated or have sores on your body you should refrain as well.

As a detox it is recommended that Epsom salt baths be taken for approx. 40 minutes. The first 20 minutes help with the detox, while the 2nd 20 minutes help with the absorption of the beneficial magnesium and sulfates.

Epsom salt measurement per body weight:

< 60 lbs : half a cup
60 - 100 : one full cup
100 - 150 : two cups

200 lbs : two and a half cups

Notes: essential oils are very common with Epsom salt baths, but be cautious and make sure you do you research as essential oils can be as dangerous as they are beneficial if not used correctly.

Have a great bath.
