Abrasion is a term to describe the coastal erosion that occurs due to destructive ocean waves and currents. Such erosion leads to the depletion of coastal areas from the closest to sea water due to being the first target of erosion. If left unchecked, abrasion will continue to undermine the shore so that the sea water will inundate areas that used to play sand or residential areas and coastal areas of the beach. This is not a figment because such a phenomenon has already appeared in the coastal area of Indramayu where coastal abrasion has dredged at least 40 kilometers of coastal area.

The Cause of Abrasion

Commonly known as coastal erosion, abrasion and erosion can thus be caused by various factors, ranging from natural factors to human factors. Smoke from motor vehicles and factories and burned forests produces carbon dioxide that blocks the heat of the sun reflected off the earth so that heat is lifted and 'dwell' in the earth's atmosphere. As a result, temperatures on Earth are rising, the polar ice melts and the seawater level is increasing so that it will erode the low ground.
