I have always seen Hai as one of the best western players in the game. Shot-calling has been a problem for many League of Legends Teams, most notoriously TSM.
Personally I like his way of communicating a lot. Very positive and pro-active. He also mentioned in his interview with Thorin that he rather plays to aggressive which might end up in him feeding, but I have the very same reason for having 0/10 games in my history. I rather die 10 times than run away from the enemy for the whole game.
I started watching LCS - the professional League of Legends e-sports series - back in 2015 when Hai was playing support for C9, Jensen mid and Rush in the Jungle. I remember the old C9 as a very hypie team, if they are on a streak and their strategies are working they seemed unstoppable, it is really nice to have 2 hours with the brain of the team.
After Tyler1 flamed Hai in one of his games, Hai had a little bit of reputation as a pussy in the community, so it is really funny to see him use the Tyler 1 slogan "I am an alpha" to describe his talent for leadership. Hai got fined before for showing the middle finger on the Worlds stage. I think reacting this way to having your strategy called "predictable and easy to counter" is perfectly fine. I consider him and Lemon one of the few Innovators / Theory Crafters, when it comes to strategy and meta, many other teams will just copy "what works best".
I didn't pay any attention to FlyQuest last season, but after this interview I am actually much more invested in Hai. With all this nostalgia in his voice I think we might see a Vanilla C9 line up after franchising is over. Balls/Meteos/Hai/Sneaky/Lemon ? Or do you think C9 is better of as it is in it's current iteration? I also didn't know that Wildturtle has so much history with Hai, but I don't think anyone would prefer him over golden era Sneaky&Meteos
I would like to see more esports commentary like this on steemit. Followed!
