Alan Lomax was this great musicologist who really managed to develop a whole system of encoding and measuring human expression. You should check Cantometrics and Choreometrics. On top of that, of course, he delivered this amazing doc about Dance and Human History (and History here means that one with capital H(for Hegel), as it encodes and expresses labour).
Decades later, this faceless music producer started to make whole pieces of contemporary symphony with sparse and emotional samples, and for that Adam Curtis called Burial the Greatest Romantic Composer of Our Time.
