I really like the ironic comparison to The Godfather in the first paragraph. I think the film works because it is tells the story in a relatively straightforward way, but emphasizes the sordid communication between the people involved. Whether its mobsters who also happen to be killing each other to make boatloads of money, or nerdy friends creating a legal business empire, bad communication is bad communication.
