Essentially Essentia - Data management decentralised

in essentia •  7 years ago

Essentia is the framework for decentralised data management. It creates Essences: full fledged, decentralised and interoperable containers of complete digital lives, with data and assets. These can belong to individuals, corporations or machines. Inside Essences, users own their data, identity and communications. Third parties and dApps can easily access these data streams as pluggable oracles and developers can build on top of the Essentia framework to create data management tools, identity solutions, data exchanges, decentralized CRMs and much more. Every day you are generating data, content, information, this data is monetised by large corporations to the tune of over $1 Trillion dollars a year. You get a big fat zero of that! By taking control of your data, you decide what is done with it.

By having a decentralised data management framework, Essentia will give users and corporations a new way to interact with the web, preserving full ownership and control over their identity, data, posessions and communications. Essentia supports different blockchains including Bitcoin, Ethereum and many more. It can work on any device, IOT (Internet Of Things) or CLI (Command Line Interface). There will be KYC (Know Your Customer) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation coming into force in the EU with 25th May 2018 deadline) by default. Comply with enhanced verification procedures safely without risking your data or privacy.

Use cases for Essentia (Individuals)

  • Decentralised passwordless logins - users can use eLogin to seamlessly login to websites and dApps, without the use of insecure passwords
  • KYC Registrations - KYC compliance services can seamlessly accept new clients and securely store their data, decentralized.

Use cases for Essentia (Companies)

  • GDPR Compliance - Companies in need of GDPR compliance solutions can use Essentia. Users can request the removal of their data, an action which is publicly verifiable using proof of onchain transaction.
  • Oracles for smart contracts - Insurance companies, financial services and banks can interact and trigger asset seizure, provided certain conditions are met, without relying on intermediaries.

Platforms Built on Top of Essentia

  • Reputation - Insurance companies, financial services and banks can verify the trustworthiness of a client through the reputation of their ESS-ID without relying on any intermediary.
  • Jarvis - A robot holding the keys to your digital life can act as an assistant, granting you sole control over its functionality using a master key. (Not to be confused with Iron man's Jarvis)

How is Essentia different to it's competitors?

Essentia Identities don't require any centralized app, email or phone number. The examples mentioned do.
In Essentia you just sign and verify messages to handle authorizations and you can use it from any device, UI or even command line. Doing that in the examples mentioned is not possible.*
