The building that preceded the current Samotnia Sanctuary has stood long before the arrival next to the Little Pool (Mały Staw) of the current leaseholder, the Siemaszko family, in 1966, which has made the place it is today. Unfortunately, all that construction has been forgotten. For those who walk on the mountain, the destruction of an old shelter resembles the death of an elderly traveler. His charms disappear, and the heart swells with memories of times, customs, and people who never return. Also a memory loss is the old view of Little Pool (Mały Staw), the silhouette of former owners and ancient travelers dressed in pelerine, with puttees on their feet, large bags on their backs and flamboyant enthusiasm in their hearts as they go on the long journey to the romantic mountain palace .

The buildings that used to stand on the banks of the lake function for cattle ranching and receive the first swallow of the era of tourism in Mts Karkonosze. The first 'tourists' began to emerge in the 17th century, pilgrims walking to St. Laurent Chapel (Kaplica sw. Wawrzynca) located at the top of Gn. Lnieżka. They live in a farm cottage called 'bouda' by the Czechs and 'baude' by Germans. Both words survived to this day and can be easily found on the map or in the guidebook to Karkonosze Mts. At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, baths and patients at the Cieplice Zdroj health resort make a good mountain climb. Over time, climbers become more demanding, need more comfort, want improvements in living conditions in the mountains.
Farming functions shift from agriculture to housing, these sites serve as shelter in mountains and inns.
