What if 2 highly inspiring men, both are visionary philanthropists, - Elon Musk and Peter H. Diamandis - join forces? A better chance for us to see a better future, I guess.

Latest news I heard about Elon Musk said that this man is currently funding a contest that will bring change primarily to educational world around the globe, and in turn, reduce the poverty. The contest is for entrepreneurs to find the most effective way to use software to teach illiterate children living in extreme poverty, and that means for software developers to develop an Android application for tablets that could provide children living in extreme poverty with clear lessons on how to read, write, and do basic math.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk called illiteracy as wellspring of poverty, maybe what drove him to set funding for it. Tanzania has been mentioned as the country where many children are still living in poverty, and has been selected as the country in which its communities will be the place for semifinalist to test their plans. All 5 semifinalist was given $1 million each for this purpose.

The contest is managed by XPRIZE Foundation, and Musk has set aside $15 million for it. The contest wich is named Global Learning XPRIZE has been held since 2014 when about 700 teams submitted their plans which 5 of them was selected semifinalists and now competing for number 1. The contest will announce its winner in April 2019. The winner of the contest will win $10 million.

At their homepage, XPRIZE Foundation expressed "An XPRIZE is a highly leveraged, incentivized prize competition that pushes the limits of what’s possible to change the world for the better. It captures the world’s imagination and inspires others to reach for similar goals, spurring innovation and accelerating the rate of positive change". The foundation was founded by Peter Diamandis, Zero Gravity Corporation CEO back in 1995, 2 years after he read Charles A. Lindbergh's autobiography "The Spirit of St. Louis", the book that inspired him the idea that money is the best motivation to creating changes, and to push limit to the world achievement.

What drives Musk and Diamandis?
That's a very interesting question.
