Jely or agarosa is a substance that is usually a gel processed from seaweed or algae. In Japan known by the name of kanten.
The type of seaweed commonly cultivated for this purpose is Eucheuma spinosum (Rhodophycophyta). Several types of seaweed from the class of Phaeophycophyta ** (Gracilaria and Gelidium) ** can be used for agar material.
Jelly is very popular in Asia Tropika as a healthy food, because it contains high soft fiber and low calorie.
High content of soft fiber can help to remove food waste in the intestine (laxative).
