Diwanag Festival

in esteem •  6 years ago  (edited)

Before going home tonight, my friends and I had a quick look at one of the most colorful Christmas festivals in the country -- Diwanag Festival of Montevista, province of Compostella Valley. It is only an hour drive from my hometown.

Diwanag is a portmanteau of the words Diwa which means spirit and Masanag meaning bright. The festival's name really suits itself since it radiates a bright Christmas spirit that provides happiness to all its spectators.

The influx of tourists every year is unstoppable. This is due to the festival's spectacular display of visual delights. Last year's theme was Disney World which attracted thousands of tourists from its neighbouring towns. That was by far the best showcase I have witnessed, until I saw this year's display of lights. 😍

This year's theme is Churches All Over the World. It's just so amazing how the participants were able to create a real replica of the churches out of their limited resources. It is no wonder why Mindanaoans are known for their creativity and craftsmanship.

So, without further ado, please enjoy all these visual delights below.

There were still other churches I wasn't able to photograph due to a massive influx of spectators. Nevertheless, it was a sweet enjoyable short visit that truly made my spirit happy. 😍
