Differences How Carburetors Work and Motor Injection System

This time I will explain a little about the difference of carburetor system and injection system.

Each machine will not run with the carburetor. Carburetor is one of the components in gasoline engine, especially on motor. But now this task of the carburetor has begun to be abandoned motor manufacturer. The motor manufacturers have started to use the injection system on the output motor. Because the injection system is considered more practical and fuel efficient. Injection system that works arranged by a somewhat complicated electricity can boost the motor power and can make more fuel efficient. Injection system capable of reading signals from sensors that exist on a motor engine. With the injection system, the fuel can be more tailored to the needs of the motor so that fuel is not wasted for free.
In principle, the duties and functions of carburetor and fuel injection are the same, the task is to mix clean air with proper gasoline for perfect combustion in the combustion chamber. Differences Working System

  1. How to mix fuel with air.
    In the carburetor, the mixing of fuel with air is caused by the existence of the vacuum of the combustion chamber where there is a piston suction step. In the injection system, fuel mixing with air is performed by the injector at the command of the ECM which takes into account signals from sensors spreading throughout the engine and exhaust.

  2. When the engine temperature is cold.
    The engine requires a rich mixture of gasoline to start the engine at a cold temperature. On the carburetor, it takes a cuk / choke to create a fuel-rich fuel chamber. This cuk / choke must be activated to start the engine. In the injection system, the temperature sensor will report the cold engine temperature condition for ECM to instruct the injector to enrich the gasoline mixture.

  3. Engine motor at the time of acceleration.
    When motor acceleration requires a fairly rich fuel mixture of about 8: 1 AFR. The carburetor is assisted by the accelerator nozzle that serves to increase the fuel supply to the engine when the throttle gas is opened suddenly. In the injection system, the throttle position sensor will send a report to the ECM that a sudden throttle opening occurs and the ECM will instruct the injector to enrich the gasoline mixture.

  4. Motor engine at high rpm
    At high rpm, the jet and jet pilot carburetors are fully open to produce great power. If the injection system, the throttle position sensor and the vacuum sensor in the intake manifold both transmit signals to the ECM to slightly enrich the gasoline mixture to produce maximum power.

In every vehicle, of course, it does not escape from the fuel supplier, where the supplier is working to process the fuel until it becomes a mixture to be put into the combustion chamber, this one component is called the carburetor, but in the manufacturers that produce motorcycles now many embrace Injection System.

The difference between the carburetor system and the injection is only in the process of sucking gasoline into the combustion chamber. In Injection System already using electronic devices such as injectors, whose job is to spray gasoline into the combustion chamber. While on the carburetor that still relies on the suction obtained from the movement of the piston on the cylinder. injection system can balance the volume of gasoline sprayed into the combustion chamber with the needs of the engine, resulting in efficient combustion results. So Injection System will certainly be more efficient.

Advantages

-In Injection motors, the volume of spraying of gasoline into the combustion chamber will always be accurate as it is controlled by the ECU (Engine Control Unit) system. This has an impact on Air mix and gasoline will always be accurate comparison at all levels of engine speed. This condition provides benefits by reducing exhaust emissions and more efficient use of gasoline.

-In the carburetor motor, the distance between the gasoline engineer (spuyer) and the cylinder is some distance away, and also the difference in the weight of the type between the gasoline and the air causes the incoming air volume is not equal to the amount of gasoline inhaled. So the pull becomes less responsive.

-As for the motor injection, injector placement adjacent to the cylinder. The Gasoline Channel leading to the injector has a higher pressure than the intake manifold pressure. In connection with the diameter of the mouth of the injector is very small, the gasoline that sprayed will form a mist. When the gas valve is opened, air and gas provide a balanced and ideal mixture, aided by good fire quality will produce complete combustion. The result is more responsive pull according to gas valve changes.

-At low temperatures (cold) turning on the carburetor engine it takes a fatter mixture by pulling the yoke. This manual is no longer needed on the motor injection because it is equipped with engine temperature sensors and air temperature sensors entering so that the engine easily turned on without the weather conditions affected.

-In terms of Injection treatments nothing has been done. Because in addition to sterile, also been assisted with a filter before entering into the injector. This makes it easier in terms of treatment.

-In an injection motor exhaust usually equipped with a catalytcs converter (CC), this system will convert the harmful combustion results into a more environmentally friendly substance using the O2 sensor system.

Deficiency:

  • By using the injection, the motor can not be tampered indiscriminately because the part is very sensitive. That way requires the owner to do maintenance and repairs in a special workshop.

  • For those who like to modify the motor, especially peforma and engine speed, must spend more funds for this type of motor. Some parts quite expensive and certainly spend deep enough.

  • In addition to the price of expensive modifications, of course spare parts or spare parts of motor injection is also quite expensive. Injection motors also require a larger power plant.

  • Talking about electricity, must be extra attention if you want to change or add some parts related to electricity. Such as the installation of HID lamps or add other accessories. If not handled by people who already understand the characteristics of the motor injection, a small error will result in the motor die.

  • With a small injector mouth, will be very sensitive to fuel quality. therefore it is recommended to use better quality gasoline than motorcycles that use carburetor. In addition, the work of catalytics converter is also influenced by the level of lead / octane from the fuel used.

Advantages:

  • Cheaper than system injection but when added another tool, then the price is close to system injection.

  • The number of components is less and not complex.

  • Maintenance is easier and simpler.

  • Easy during cleaning or service.

  • Not Afraid to jam if run out of fuel.

Weakness:

  • For setting A / F ratio done manual and can only once.

  • Requires an appropriate setting for all conditions but can not cope with any conditions that may vary.

  • It needs additional tools / components so that carburetor work can adjust conditions such as acceleration pump, coasting enricher, etc.

  • The use of fuel is less efficient, so it tends to be wasteful.
